Bupa Global launches workplace health scorecard

Bupa Global has teamed up with HERO to launch an online tool to help businesses evaluate their health and wellbeing programmes.

The HERO international scorecard will be available to all Bupa Global’s business customers and will help firms examine their performance in the health and wellbeing area and show how they can improve over time. The scorecard has been developed in collaboration with leading expects in health and wellbeing, and quizzes workers on a range of factors, such as the availability of programmes, organisational and cultural support.

Benchmarking

It also allows companies to compare their health and wellbeing programmes against those of other businesses by correlating their scores against the aggregate of all the companies in the scorecard’s database.

The scorecard also allows firms to compare their score to similar employers based on industry, size and location.

Link to improved performance

According to Bupa Global, the scorecard has already been successful shown to help employers in the US predict company healthcare cost trends and has been “associated with improved company stock value performance” since it was first introduced in the US in 2006.

“With half of the world’s population in work, employees increasingly expect their employer to play an active role in their health and wellbeing, yet some businesses still don’t appreciate the commercial and strategic value of workplace health initiatives,” said Bupa Global’s commercial director Europe, Patrick Watt.

“That’s why we’ve partnered with HERO to give our customers the means to measure and report on the impact of the workplace health programmes they have implemented.

“Workplace health is a key way for businesses to attract and retain talent – but it’s important to partner with an experienced provider who can support in the provision, promotion and execution of these kinds of initiatives,” added Mr Watt.
